Out of all the water parks in Orlando, Blizzard Beach has the best theme. Imagine you are at an alpine ski resort on Mount Gushmore and the snow is melting. Water rushes down the sides of the mountain, creating several high speed slides that empty into pools. To get to the top of the mountain, you can either take the chairlift or climb the mountain path. The summit of Mount Gushmore offers a spectacular view from the observation deck and is also the starting point of some thrilling water slides: Summit Plummet is the tallest and fastest free-fall body slide in the world, Teamboat Springs is one of the longest family raft rides in the country, Runoff Rapids is a high-speed, twisting raft ride, and Toboggan Racers pits friends and family against each other in a race to the bottom. Surrounding Mount Gushmore are the relaxing Cross Country Creek and the gentle waves in Melt-Away Bay. The Ski Patrol Training Camp, designed especially for big kids and pre-teens, has a pool of floating icebergs to climb on and a zip line to fly down as well as several body slides. Plenty of shady places can be found all around the park, but arrive early to stake your claim on a spot (especially during the summer months and holidays.) If you want a quieter place to hang out, head to the back of the park and you will find plenty of chairs and shady, sandy nooks. Dressing rooms and showers are available in the restrooms near the entrance of the park. Lockers, towels, and private decks are available for rent. The gift shop near the entrance of the park sells everything from sunscreen and sunglasses to magazines and beach toys. Parking is free.
