The DeLand Memorial Hospital Museum was built in 1920 to help the wounded servicemen of World War I. Now it stands as a memorial to veterans and houses some administrative offices and a collection of small museums set up in various rooms of the building. “The Operating Room” and “Apothecary” display the hospital’s original operating room with vintage equipment and artifacts. The “Elephant Fantasyland” is a display of over a thousand elephant figurines, and “Toyland” is a display of an original childhood toy collection that belonged to one the earliest wealthy residents of DeLand. Tours are free and are led by volunteers who know the history of the area.
