What was life like in Florida before Disney? How did people live without AC or mosquito spray? These questions and more will be answered at the Orange County History Center. Spread out on four floors of the beautifully restored 1927 Orange County Courthouse, the History Center, a Smithsonian affiliate, spans over 12,000 years of Central Florida’s history. Hands-on activities, dynamic multimedia presentations, artifacts large and small, photographs, and the fully restored courtroom where Ted Bundy was tried and convicted, are all very well presented. Learn about the Native Americans who lived in the area, Florida’s role in the Civil War, the citrus industry, and more. The museum also hosts nationally recognized traveling exhibits as well. A self-guided audio tour is available with admission.
